ADULT CIRCUMCISION
Adult males may choose to get ZSR circumcision surgery for a variety of reasons, including medical, cultural and personal preferences. Some may opt for circumcision to reduce the risk of infections, improve hygiene or enhance sexual pleasure.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Procedure Overview
Informed written consent will be obtained, and all opportunities will be given to you to ask any queries or questions. After receiving local anesthetic to the genital area, the circumcision is performed in a completely painless manner. The whole procedure is generally done in just 15-20 minutes only.
• You will be kept for observation for 30 minutes to an hour postoperatively.
• Usually, routine post-operative follow-up to come to the clinic is not required. The doctor will be in touch with you over the phone.
• All-important instructions for dressing change will be provided to you after your surgery.
• Avoid strenuous activities like gym, sports, etc. for at least 2 weeks.
• Please ask the doctor if you need a medical certificate for a few days off work after the procedure.
DR. MAMUN will have initial consultation where you will be explained about the ZSR circumcision technique in details. After cleaning the skin with an aseptic solution, the anesthetic is injected into the base of the penis. Once this process is completed, the doctor will perform the surgery. At the end of the procedure, there will be a silicone ring/gasket which has staples on it. This ring will fall off on its own after 2-3 weeks, once healing is done.
At the end, there will be dressing of the penis and doctor will show you how to do self-dressing at home. There will post op instruction sheet given to you. In the entire process of Circumcision Surgery, the patient won’t feel any pain. It is adviced to rest first 2-3 days post operatively. DR. MAMUN can provide medical certificate for work and for household chores : ) Certain physical activities like running, swimming, sports, heavy lifting etc must be avoided until the ring falls off. Office/ desk job could be commenced after 3-4 days.
Few things to keep in mind before the procedure
• Do not drink lots of water beforehand.
• You may need antibiotics to prevent any infection.
• Maintaining hygiene is mandatory.
• Follow strict post-operative instructions to reduce the risk of post-operative complications like bleeding, infection, and wound dehiscence.
• Please trim/shave the pubic hair 1-2 days before the procedure.

Is Adult Circumcision Necessary?
• Adult Circumcision is mainly done for medical indications like Phimosis, Balanitis etc.
• Circumcision gives protection against sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV syphilis and many more.
• Male circumcision reduces the risk of penile cancer.
• Circumcision prevents the accumulation of smegma and helps maintain hygiene.
• Easier hygiene, as it ensures the part of the penis beneath the foreskin remains clean.
